Why did they save the show? Because their love was real and strong enough to endure the toughest issues, and even though they stayed apart, it was nice to see that the couple remained in love with one another for quite some time. Some may say that individually, Jay and Manny were not good people, and when they got together that their relationship was doomed from the start. However, their chemistry was simply to strong to deny. Manny was misguided in her youth, making many mistakes due to impulsive decisions, but by the time she left the show, Manny was one of the few characters to really grow as a person.
Fans found Manny to be one of the best characters in Degrassi. On the other hand, Jay was a terrible person. When with Alex, he cheated on her with so many people that it was revolting.
Jay also gave Emma an STD. However, when he formed a relationship with Manny, he became a better man. Their relationship saved the show because fans and viewers saw a change in Jay that impressed them. In a way, Manny really saved Jay more than the show. If you saw this relationship in Degrassi , you can probably already guess why Alli and Leo as a couple hurt the show.
Allie met Leo in Paris when she went on a school trip in the summer. Her phone was stolen, and Leo gallantly got it back for her. There was instant attraction at first - and nothing else. Leo let his jealousy and anger come to the surface as he saw the text, clearly thinking Alli wanted another guy.
He physically assaulted Alli by grabbing her arm and bruising it. Leo decides to transfer to Toronto University so they could continue the relationship on his terms, and Alli even marries him! She annulled the marriage right after. The relationship between Tristan and Vijay hurt the show because using another person to get over a past relationship is not healthy. Tristan and Vijay started dating in the very first season, at the start of the school year.
Tristan knew about the crush, so he asked Vijay out to get over his previous boyfriend, Miles. The two actually had much in common, like their passion for musical theater, but when Vijay finally understood he was a rebound, he broke up with Tristan.
Tristan admittedly had never gotten over Miles and tries to break up with Vijay, but the latter beats him to it by changing their online relationship status.
It only got much worse from there. The chemistry between Miles and Tristan has always been strong. They grew a friendship through Maya before sharing a kiss. Miles, however, continued to have feelings for Maya, which caused their first break-up. Tristan did shame Miles and any girls he had slept with because he was jealous, but then denied doing that, which made for a confusing relationship at that point.
Despite that, the two got back together, much to the delight of fans and viewers. Miles cheated with Lola when Tristan was in a coma, but Tristan decided to forgive him. Then, Tristan finally ended their relationship organically because Miles wanted to chase a writing career and he wanted to get better. Tristan had no problems letting Miles do that, but Tristan never got over Miles, as evident after he started a relationship with Vijay.
Even after their break-up, Miles still insisted on taking Tristan to prom. Liberty Van Zandt : Only my brother and Toby. Liberty, you're 6 months pregnant. She is extremely upset with him for what he tried to do. In Together Forever , Liberty still refuses to speak to J. She is getting closer to her due date but she doesn't let it stop her from working hard. She's determined to tend to her presidential duties even when J.
Hatzilakos express deep concern for her health. Toby is driving Liberty to an assembly when his advice for her is ignored and dismissed. Shortly after his car breaks down, Liberty suddenly goes into labor and Toby calls an ambulance. Later on at the hospital, Liberty is seen holding her newborn baby boy in her arms after giving birth. In Total Eclipse Of The Heart , Liberty is feeling depressed and it's affecting her academic performance, which begins to worry her parents.
She's feeling a sense of loss when she learns that the family that adopted her baby is moving away. She feels even more miserable when she gets drunk one night while her parents were out.
At the end of an exam, J. Liberty gets up and says that it's maybe because she never started and throws her test on the teacher's desk. She later gets some consolation from Danny's new friend Derek Haig who was also adopted as a baby and given a treasure chest a box of sentimental possessions from his birth mother. So, Liberty gets an idea from Derek to put together a treasure chest for her baby, which J. She and J. In High Fidelity 2 , J. In Eyes Without a Face 1 , J.
Toby implies that J. Still, J. Mia recognizes J. When sparks start to fly between J. He invites Mia and her daughter Isabella Jones to a taping of his television job, which both of them enjoy. Mia believes that J. Although he doesn't explain this to Mia, it is obvious that J. Evidently, the feeling is mutual because when J. The fact that J. Liberty takes that opportunity to talk to Mia and tell her everything about her past with J. Mia is angry because J. While Liberty is conducting a student council meeting, she upsets both J. Still, he isn't done with her as he confronts her the next day to tell her how wrong she was.
Liberty calls J. Shortly after this incident, the rivalry between Degrassi and Lakehurst reaches new heights and J. In Rock This Town , it is Liberty's birthday and she holds another student council meeting with the Lakehurst student council president Damian Hayes , in an attempt to inspire peace between their warring schools.
Meanwhile, Manny, who was still hurt over her final breakup with Craig Manning , was planning a party at Emma's house, disguised as a birthday party for Liberty as suggested by J. Simpson are away for the weekend. She even tries to play matchmaker with Liberty and Damian but the former is still stuck on J. Mia happens to be away for the weekend as well, so Liberty is happy when she learns that her birthday party was J. Later that night at Emma's residence, the party becomes crowded with more guests than originally intended, including two unwelcome students from Lakehurst, Johnny DiMarco and Drake Lempkey ; both of them are thrown out of the house by Spinner and Jay when they begin to cause trouble.
Some time during the party, J. Liberty also takes this moment to confess that she was still in love with him. He claims that he has a girlfriend and he loves her, though it doesn't seem very convincing. Still, Liberty calls him a coward and leaves. A few minutes later, J. Darcy starts to shed her clothes, and tries to convince Spinner that she wants to go all the way. Spinner senses something is wrong, and wants to know what.
When Darcy tells him, Spinner is irate and attacks Jay and makes it clear that Jay is no longer a part of his life. In memory of the school shooting, Degrassi has decided to create a mural in the halls, designed by none other than Jimmy Brooks. As Jimmy, Hazel, Ellie, Paige, Marco and Craig work on painting the mural in the main hall of Degrassi, Hazel becomes ever more suspicious of the connection between Ellie and Jimmy and seems ever more disconnected to her boyfriend.
Things come to a head when Hazel notices that one of the girls in the mural is clearly Ellie. Hazel dumps Jimmy. All of Degrassi is excited that such a big event is happening so close, especially since many of the students are invited.
Paige and Alex: Alex is especially excited because Paige has invited her; something Alex would never dream of doing otherwise. Paige makes it clear to Hazel that Alex is not to be ridiculed, and tries to smooth things over with Alex.
Paige convinces Kevin Smith to give her an extra ticket, which he does, but only after he lets it slip that Paige has been cut out of the movie. The two arrive looking very hot, and draw a lot of attention to themselves. After the premiere, they sneak into the VIP after-party by convincing the doorman that they are lovers.
The two spend the night erotically dancing, swiftly upstaging Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. The sexual tension gets very thick, and Paige and Alex kiss. Paige freaks out and flees downstairs. The next morning, Paige does everything she can to avoid Alex and Alex does everything she can to confront Paige. Once at school, the two decide to meet during a free period to discuss what has happened. They meet in the Laneway, and admit that their feelings are more than friendship, and share a sweet kiss.
Meanwhile, Jay has confronted Hazel to tell her that he thinks Paige and Alex are getting cozy, and thinks Hazel should be worried about her reputation if Paige becomes a lesbian. Hazel confronts Paige at Spirit Squad practice, and Paige, embarrassed, states that Alex means nothing to her. Alex overhears, and is brutally crushed. Paige is equally crushed, and is so distracted by Alex that she fails to create a cheer for Kevin Smith at the school assembly.
The assembly is a complete disaster. Afterwards, Paige seeks out Kevin Smith to apologize, who offers her some valuable advice. Kevin Smith thinks that if Paige really likes Alex, she should go for it, no matter what anyone thinks. Jay is fruitlessly trying to convince Alex to take him back, but she refuses. As she leaves her apartment to get away, she finds Paige in the hallway.
The two have a long talk, and decided to go with their feelings. Emma: Peter and Emma are still hiding their relationship from Manny, sneaking around and holding secret conversations in the hallway. Emma attends the movie premiere with Snake and Peter attends the premiere with Ms. During the after-party, Emma and Peter sneak back into the theatre to kiss and cuddle, but get more than they bargained for.
Snake and Ms. Hatzilakos are making out in the theatre. Back at home, Emma is crying in the kitchen when Snake finds her. The next day, Spike drives Emma to school, and can tell there is something wrong but Emma is silent. When Emma arrives at school, she snaps at Ms. Hatzilakos in front of Snake. Spike is ecstatic but Emma is furious, leading Snake to admit what he did to Spike.
Snake and Spike discuss what happened, and Snake gets kicked out of the house. He decides to move in with Joey to figure things out. The members of Downtown Sasquatch are eagerly anticipating the Northern Sound Showcase, one of the most important band competitions in the area.
When Downtown Sasquatch performs at the Showcase, they are far outclassed by Money Money, but still manage to catch the eye of a manager named Leo. He decides to take the band under his wing, polish their style, and work to get them a record deal. When Craig returns from the gig, a letter has arrived from the University of Toronto offering Craig a full scholarship, but Craig decides to turn in down in favor of a career in music. Craig goes about teaching Ellie with a vengeance, much to the ire of Manny.
When Leo suggests that there are better drummers in Toronto , Craig threatens to leave Leo. During a later meeting with Leo, the manager announces that Downtown Sasquatch have been invited by the Northern Sound Showcase for a repeat performance. If the performance goes well, the band will travel to Vancouver to record with hit band Jackalope.
At the end of the meeting Leo announces that Ellie needs to get much better, or a replacement needs to be found. Craig is hesitant, but eventually decides to play the Northern Sound Showcase as a solo artist, and then travels to Vancouver to pursue his dreams in music.
Hatzilakos suggests that Liberty let Toby represent Degrassi at an interschool assembly, but Liberty just thinks that Ms. Liberty will have nothing to do with it, and is furious that Toby is talking about her to JT. Whilst Toby and Liberty are en route to the assembly, Liberty goes into labor. She is rushed to the hospital. Liberty gives birth to a little boy with JT at her side , and her parents deliver the baby to his new adoptive family. Spinner has turned his life around, and even though Jimmy will likely never forgive him, Marco is noticing the changes in Spinner.
During a school fair, Spinner is manning the Friendship Club booth, where Jimmy is repeatedly dunking him in water. Later, Spinner finds Marco in the hallway and questions where his friends are.
Spinner wants to know if he might want to hang out sometime.
